HOW THE DAY WORKS

Your Sightseeing Phnom Penh day starts when we pick you up. The Private Phnom Penh city tour means you don't share with other groups. We go first to places that show Cambodia's tough past. Your guide explains what happened at Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields.

We stop for lunch in the middle of the day. After eating, you choose what to see next. Some folks love the shiny gold roofs at the Royal Palace. Others enjoy the old art at the National Museum. Your guide helps you decide.

The last stop is Wat Phnom. This old temple sits on a small hill. Lots of local people come here to pray. Your Sightseeing Phnom Penh trip ends when we drop you back at your hotel.TRIP PLAN

Take the best Sightseeing Phnom Penh trip with your own guide! This Private Phnom Penh city tour covers Tuol Sleng, Killing Fields, Royal Palace or National Museum, and Wat Phnom.

1. 8:00 AM: We Get You at Your HotelYour guide meets you in your hotel lobby. The car has cold air - nice in hot weather! As we drive, you'll see city life all around. Ask your guide any questions you have about Phnom Penh.

2. 8:30 AM: Tuol Sleng Genocide MuseumThis place used to be a school. Bad people turned it into a prison in the 1970s. The rooms are now kept as they were. You'll see photos of people who were here. The stories are sad but important to know. Your guide helps make sense of what you see.

3. 10:30 AM: Killing Fields of Choeung EkWe drive about 15 minutes out of town. This quiet field has a tall white building full of skulls. It honors people who died here. You get a headset that tells the story as you walk around. The place feels peaceful now, which seems strange given what happened here.

4. 12:30 PM: Time for Lunch
You must be hungry! We stop at a good local place. Try some tasty Cambodian food. Fish soup or meat with rice are popular dishes. You pay for your own meal. The break lasts about an hour so you can rest a bit.

5. 1:30 PM: You Pick - Royal Palace OR National Museum

If you pick the Royal Palace: See where the King lives! The buildings are painted bright yellow. The roofs curve up at the edges like hands praying. Inside the Silver Pagoda, you walk on real silver floor tiles! There's also a Buddha made of gold with lots of diamonds. Pretty amazing stuff. If you pick the National Museum: This red building holds old statues and art. Some pieces are more than 1,000 years old! The building makes a square around a garden. It stays cool inside even on hot days. You see how art changed over time in Cambodia.

6. 3:00 PM: Wat Phnom Visit
This temple sits on a small hill in the middle of town. The name "Phnom Penh" comes from here! ("Phnom" means "hill" in Khmer.) You climb steps to reach the top. Inside is a big Buddha statue. Outside, watch for monkeys that live here. They might try to grab your stuff!

7. 4:00 PM: Back to Your Hotel
We drop you off where we started. Now you can rest or go out on your own for the evening. Your guide can tell you good places for dinner or shopping.
